FERAPRO™, a holistic and proprietary blend of iron, vitamins, and cofactors, was designed to optimize oral iron replacement therapy, with every ingredient serving a specific purpose to improve patient outcomes.
IRON FROM FERROUS FUMARATE
Provides ferrous (Fe2+) iron, which is more bioavailable than ferric (Fe3+) iron found in polysaccharide iron supplements.
VITAMIN C AS ASCORBIC ACID
The enzyme ascorbate ferrireductase (DcytB) uses Vitamin C to enhance non-heme iron bioavailability by 1.5 to 10-fold.
FOLATE AS 5-MTHF
5-MTHF, the active form of folic acid, is required for proper development of red blood cells (i.e. erythropoiesis).
GLYCINE
Glycine is an amino acid that forms a chelated complex with iron, increasing its tolerability without hindering absorption.
VITAMIN B12 AS METHYLCOBALAMIN
Methylcobalamin, the active form of vitamin B12, is required for proper development of red blood cells (i.e. erythropoiesis). Methylcobalamin is used in the metabolic pathway for DNA synthesis, which is essential for the final maturation of the red blood cells.
